Our Maine Adventures

*I blogged our entire Maine vacation, so you will need to click older posts at the bottom to see the last couple of days

My brother Ben and his wife Katie have lived in Maine for two years now and only my mom has been to visit them. We decided earlier this year that in June all of the siblings and whoever else could make it would spend a week in their home together. We all made it happen (my siblings and I live in 4 different states between the five of us) and had a fabulous week together!

Airplane ride (I'm trying to block it out of my memory otherwise I may never fly anywhere again) actually, it wasn't too bad. I could type a whole other post on what I learned from flying with two children, but overall they were troopers and we survived.

Pine Point, "Lobstah", & S'mores

We started our first full day in Maine out right! We hit Pine Point Beach and spent the day relaxing and soaking up the sun. Ben and Katie live so close to the water--so jealous they can come out here whenever they want! Literally we drove 5 miles and wa-lah, beach! Brooke immediately loved the sand and water. It took a little longer for Porter to warm up to it, but he did like it too. And I resigned myself to the fact that he was going to try to eat the sand the entire time we were there.

 We ended our first night with around the firepit in the backyard cooking S'mores.

The Portland Head Light & Kettle Cove

Ben and Katie took us to the Portland Head Light, Maine's most famous lighthouse. It was comissioned by George Washington in the 1770's. Pretty cool, huh? It was so pretty there I couldn't stop taking pictures. 

On our way home, we stopped by Kettle Cove to climb the rocks and look in the tide pools

We stopped fore ice-cream too. This place was very familiar with our family by the end of the week.
