A Year and a Half of Grant

 Grant turned 18 months old on April 29. He has grown up so much! I can tell he's starting to change into a toddler and wants to do everything his older brother and sister are doing. He had his 18 mo check up yesterday and weighs 21.13 lbs (12th percentile) and is 32.2 inches tall (50th percentile). He's learned to sign "thank you" and can now say "ba" for bath and "nana" for banana.

And even though he is still so small, he is a bottomless eating machine! If there is any food left out on the table, he'll climb up and get into it. you'd think I'd learn my lesson, but many times I come into the kitchen and find Grant in the middle of a mess.

 Grant also discovered the outdoors in April! Now that he can walk our yard is full of so many possibilities! The weather teased us by giving us a few nice days before being horribly rainy for the rest of the week. Grant was so sad to have to stay inside once he got a taste of being outside.

 He really wanted to put the sand toys down the slide.

We have afternoon church so Grant is usually pretty tired and cranky by 4pm. We came home and I found Grant in his room asleep on a pile of his blankets.

April Showers, Snow, and Fun!

Blake is on the first responders team at work. His work is so far from town that the company has trained their own team to handle any medical/safety issues that come up while they wait for paramedics to arrive. It's a lot of pressure on Blake to know his stuff! In April he was in charge of a ropes refresher course for high angled rescues. I am so proud of him and all the hard work he puts into getting certified and going to trainings.

 I went to an education summit the second weekend in April. It was amazing! I've been out of the classroom for 2 years now and this made me really miss teaching. Not to mention that the lunch keynote speaker was author Richard Paul Evans. His talk was incredible (hopefully I'll come back and journal my notes I took here too). And as always, I can't pass up a chance to meet an author and have him sign my books. I was able to get Michael Vey and The Christmas Box signed.

 Porter cracks me up everyday. He is so imaginative and says the funniest things. He loves to mix and match all of his dress up outfits. Today he was a "superhero pirate cowboy" and he told me while wearing this outfit, "mom, I'm kind of perfect."

 Also, Brooke had a celebrating the arts performance for school. Each grade sang a song at an evening performance. The first graders sang a song about being thankful.

One of the kids' favorite things to do on the weekends is to sleep on the floor!

Blake wrecked on his mountain bike and really hurt his knee. While we was resting, Grant decided to spend some time with him.

It was free national parks week in April and we're so blessed to live near a national park. Blake and I took the boys to the Dinosaur Quarry and they both loved it!

No matter how many times I've seen it, I still am amazed that this rock is full of dinosaur bones!

The weather in April was rainy, snowy, windy, and sunshiny...sometimes all in one day! Brooke started her spring soccer season and so far the weather has been terrible for all her games! Here's hoping May is a little warmer and less windy!
