August Adventures Pt 1

We started out August by going rock hunting! Our community started a group where you paint rocks and hide them around the city parks and other areas with heavy foot traffic. My kids have had fun finding rocks and rehiding them for others.

Some random pictures of Grant doing silly things

We went on an overnight camping trip to Cliff Lake. It was up in the mountains at about 11,000 elevation, so it was cold! We used our razor to get into the campsite. It rained pretty much the entire first day. We wrapped a tarp around the top of the razor to keep the rain out and strung another tarp up in the trees for shelter while we cooked.  We were grateful to have another family with us, the Weeks', to help us.

Blake's Kelly Kettle, roasting a hot dog, while soup cooks in a pot above it. The pot is hanging from a tripod we made out of logs and some metal wire we happened to find. Real cowboy cooking right there!

That night it rained and rained and hailed on us! The tent Brooke and I were sleeping in leaked water so we ended up getting in the other tent with Blake and Porter. We were squished and wet and cold. It made for a very long night for me. I don't think Blake or I got more than a couple hours of sleep. We'd left Grant with Blake's mom and are SO GLAD we did!

The next day the weather cleared and we went up to the lake to hang out and fish before heading home.

About a week later, we went on another ride. We went up to the see the snowline at Lakeshore Basin.
